Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Description: University of Utah is at the momment seeking for Psychologist right now, this career will be ordered in Utah. The Pediatric and Adolescent Psychologist provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, and referral information of a clinical nature through direct patient care to children referred to the University Developmental Assessment Clinics ( UDAC ). The Psychologist will wor k in all clinical programs at UDAC including the Child Development Clinic ( CDP ), Neonatal Follow-up Program ( NFP ) and the Heart Center Neurodevelopmental Program ( HCNP ). This position will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including developmental pediatricians and Nurse Practitioners, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Registered Nurses and other Psychologists to provide assessments and diagnosis to children who have or are at high risk for developmental problems. Clinics are held in Salt Lake City, and twice a month in Provo.

May be potential for increase in FTE /hours in the future based on clinical needs.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
1. Provide direct psychological services to patients referred to the University Developmental Assessment Clinics, working primarily with the Neonatal Follow-up Program, Child Development Program, and Heart Center Neurodevelopmental Program. Particip ate in weekly care conferences and staffing meetings.

2. Perform intake and standardized developmental assessments, evaluate patients to determine potential diagnostic conditions and treatment plan. Provide feedback, support and advice to families regarding developmental and behavioral issues.

3. Collaborate with the University of Utah, school districts, and community agencies and departments. Prepare reports for parents and other agencies.

4. Train and supervise pre-doctoral psychology interns, post-doctoral psychologists, residents in psychiatry and pediatrics, medical students, and practicum students.

5. Assist in directing or working within agency program and support areas, as assigned by UDAC Director.

6. Participate in research ongoing with the UDAC . May also participate in longitudinal outcome research by performing assessments with other University Hospital programs (e.g., Pediatric Neonatology).

7. Assist and su pport quality improvement initiatives.

Comments:
Clinical duties consist of several clinic session per week, (i.e., performing assessment and diagnosis). Will also participate in TeleHealth patient visits.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical/counseling or school psychology from an accredited program; licensure in the State of Utah; one year experience in psychotherapy, group or family therapy within a clinical setting required. Program development and evaluation skills; outreach consultation skills; and demonstrated human relation and effective communications skills are also required.

Preferences

  • Experience with assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions (i.e. Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Third Edition, Autism Diagno stic Observation Schedule, Second Edition, etc.).
  • Specialization in the assessment and treatment of early childhood neurodevelopmental conditions (i.e., autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability). Individual candidates are expected to be familiar with best-practice, evidence-based practices in the assessment and treatment of early childhood neurodevelopmental populations.
  • Ability to work as a strong team member with UDAC psychologists and all other UDAC team members. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
