The purpose of this position is to assist with the provision of care in the assessment of children suspected of being victims of abuse and/or neglect. The incumbents will work with an APRN, MD in the Emergency Department or Safe & Healthy Families. The Safe and Healthy Families Forensic Nurse will execute patient care of children and their families which may involve forensic evidence collection and photo-documentation. Attention to detail is very important. There will be an orientation to this position working with patients in the SHF Medical Assessment Team Clinic and in the ED, as well as a 1 week sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) training class. Must be willing and able to respond to the ED within 30 minutes. The RN shall provide safe, efficient and therapeutically effective patient care, delivered within hospital policies and procedures, legal and regulatory standards.
Call Requirement:
This prn position requires 2 eight hour on-call shifts per week. Of these two shifts/week, three shifts/month, must be weekends.
Minimum Requirements
Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in state of Utah
Must have a minimum of 1 yr of previous RN experience.
This position requires verifiable current Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer CPR certification. An original card must be verified prior to start date or the job offer will be withdrawn. For additional information regarding CPR requirements please visit our Job Requirements Page .
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Basic computer skills
Ability to work variable on-call shifts.
Must be able to respond to Primary Children's Medical Emergency Department within 30 minutes.
Preferred Qualifications
Strongly prefer pediatric or emergency department experience.
