Will provide high quality cost effective clinical care to patients within the scope of their specialty. Reports to the Health Center Medical Director and the U! niversity of Utah Medical Group Executive Medical Director.
Qualifications:
Medical or osteopathic school degree. Board certification in specialty or board certification within 2 years of employment.
Physician Duties:
Physician will provide clinical services to University of Utah Health Care Clinics' patients in a manner consistent with the scope of practice and quality of care standards applicable to Physician's training and specialty. As an employee of the University of Utah Health Care, Physician will be required to: comply with all applicable policies, procedures, practices, requirements and standards of the University of Utah and the University of Utah Medical Group comply with all all directives of the Medical Director relating to Physician's employment; comply with all all applicable laws and canons of professional ethics; comply with all other requirements of the standard employment agreement. with consent of the physician, su! pervise mid-level health care providers as assigned and such s! upervision will be covered under Physician's University of Utah malpractice insurance coverage.
Professional Requirements: Physician must hold a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah. Physician must maintain membership in good standing on the medical staff of such hospitals as the Medical Director may request, with no suspension, diminution or loss of such privileges for a period in excess of thirty (30) days. Physician must have and maintain U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency number without any suspension, diminution or revocation. Physician must meet all the qualifications to participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs or any similar government-funded health care program. Physician must maintain a practice of medicine consistent with recognized standards of medical care and perform all activities in accordance with those standards. Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in programs maintained by University! of Utah Medical Group for professional malpractice liability coverage for its employed physicians.
Essential Functions:
Clinical Care. Physician based FTE. FTE = 36 patient contact hours for full time employment. Benefits are pro-rated for hours worked/full time equivalent status.
- Part time: Three- quarter time = 30 hours per week minimum
- Full-time: 40 hours (36 hours per week minimum patient contact time)
- Any other FTE status must be agreed upon and meet the needs of clinical practice
Administrative Duties. Physician must perform and/or participate in any administrative duties, training programs, and other requirements of University of Utah Medica! l Group which may be ancillary to the providing of clinical care, as ne! cessary to perform Physician's professional functions.
Quality Improvement:
Meeting Attendance. Every effort should be made to attend Health Center's provider meetings and the University of Utah Medical Group Tri-Annual meetings.
Education. Physician must agree to teach medical students and other professional students. Completion of all documents is required for student rotations.

Expanded list of Physician Duties: Performs history and physical examinations as indicated. Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures. Prepares patients for examination! s and diagnostic procedures. Performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waved Lab tests such as urine dip stick, Hgb, Hct, finger stick, glucose, hemoccults, and hCg. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient/'s clinical problems and health care needs. Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents. Participates in quality improvement activities. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance. Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals ! requiring emergency measures.
