Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner. Provides treatment and evaluation for Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology patients in the Outpatient and Inpatient setting at Primary Childrenâs Medical Center.

Responsibilities
Provides treatment and evaluation for Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology patients in the Outpatient and Inpatient setting at Primary Childrenâs Medical Center. Performs appropriate assessments, obtains histories and completes physical examinations according to department guidelines. Uses knowledge of pediatric physical, social! , emotional and developmental functioning and diagnostic skill! s to develop a working diagnosis for patients for the development and implementation of treatment plans. Orders and interprets patient care tests, treatments and exams in accordance with department standards. Administers and interprets allergy skin testing and pulmonary function testing. Completes timely and accurate documentation of all pertinent clinical findings in the patient medical record to facilitate communication with team members and provide a legal medical record in accordance with established documentation standards for the Department of Pediatrics. Provides management of patient/parent phone calls, handling prescription needs, providing advice regarding Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, Rheumatology, and general pediatric issues. Provides patient/family education and coordination of care. Actively participate in patient care related issues across the continuum of care. Acts as a resource and provide education on clinical, medication and health care issues for othe! r team members to promote high quality care.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner as required under State Law. Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria. Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area; and demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and communication skills are required.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Masterâs degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Masterâs degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination. UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

Preferences
Prior experience in pediatrics and/or Allergy/Immunology/Rheumatology strongly preferred. The incumbent will have demonstrated the capacity to work independently as a clinician in a practice setting.
