Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Clinical Data Manager I. This is an entry level position that supports the study lead clinical data manager by independently completing assigned data management tasks. The Clinical Data Manager I implements standardized data management procedures and processes with a high degree of quality and within timelines.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Assist the study lead Clinical Data Manager with data management tasks including but not limited to the following: test and review data validation checks, issue and resolve data queries, review data listings and identify discrepancies based on current review specifications
- Prepare and review reports
- Communicate with internal and external study personnel regarding data queries
- Create data management documents as directed
- Assist the study lead clinical data manager with other study related activities
Employees in this position are required to discuss questions and suggestion for improvements with the study lead clinical data manager and the manager of clinical data management prior to implementing new or modified processes. The Clinical Data Manager I is expected to actively seek and acquire new skills that relate to the clinical data management function. For each task assigned the employee, they should acquire an understanding of the purpose, process, and documentation requirements.
Comments:
This position is intended to be focused on task level activities with oversight from the study lead clinical data manager and the manager of clinical data management. It provides the employee the opportunity to master the systems and processes used in clinical data management, and gain an in-depth understanding of the purpose of each as it relates to the goals of the overall study team. Employees are expected to gain expertise in each area of responsibility of the clinical data manager. As the employee gains experience the amount of supervision and oversight required to produce a quality deliverable should decrease.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science, life science, pharmacy, nursing, or related subject. Must be proficient in desktop office applications and possess the ability to learn new software applications and skills in a dynamic work environment. Applicant must be organized and detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferences
Clinical data management and/or clinical research experience is preferred but not required.
