The Pediatric Cardiology Division in the University Of Utah School Of Medicine has an immediate opening for Nurse Coordinator. The incumbent will assist in the coordination and management of the adult congenital clinical services for patients ranging in age from childhood to the elderly, with the majority of patients being children and young adults less than 35 years of age. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who is capable of providing excellent care to both adult and pediatric patients and who has an interest in facilitating Principle Investigator research initiatives. FULL-TIME POSITION, 40 HRS/WEEK, 8AM - 5PM, M-F.

DUTIES

General Coordination:
1. Address patient concerns/questions received via electronic message or phone message 2. Follow-up on patient lab work performed in clinic 3. Call in patient prescriptions/renewals 4. Monitor/manage INRs, bridging with lovenox and other anti-coagulation issues (alcohol, mennorhagia etc.) 5. Co-ordinate follow-up studies (TEEs, CTs, Caths etc) and obtain results. 6. Fill out all paperwork related to: disability, driver's license renewals, and other employment/school related paperwork 7. Aid in sub-specialist referral (high risk OB, gynecology, vascular etc.) 8. Follow-up with patients by telephone after ER visits, missed clinic appointments, etc. 9. Establishes, monitors, and updates health passports for ACHD patients 10. Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease service

Pre Clinic Arrangements:
1. Order pre-visit testing as directed by the Cardiologist or Mid-level Practitioner. 2. Arrange clinic visits for referred patients including coordination with out of town patients with multiple tests.

Clinic Days:
1. Arrange follow up of the patient (may include diet/nutrition, sleep study lab, imaging, and/or genetic testing) 2. Maintain a database of pending genetic testing results. 3. Coordinate follow up for insurance needs, involve social work, and/or other ancillary departments as needed

Post Clinic Activities:
1. Coordinate referrals 2. Maintain clinical databases 3. Complete e-Return to Clinic forms for upcoming visits 4. Coordinate orders for procedures and follow up on records Request for medical information

QUALIFICATIONS

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah or equivalency required. *If licensed in a compact state a Utah State license must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card or must obtain one within one month of hire required.

Demonstrated teaching, leadership, human relations and effective communication skills required. One year of directly related experience in area of specialty is preferred. Some positions may require additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS or NRP within one year of hire.
