The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) for the Float Pool at Primary Children's Medical Center is a profe! ssional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The RN provides the best clinical practice in an environment of caring and healing. The RN has the opportunity to care for a broad spectrum of diagnoses which enables them to sharpen their assessment skills, gain a vast knowledge base, and improve critical thinking skills while caring for patients. Utilizing the nursing process, care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, legal and regulatory standards. The RN impacts patients' lives every day and truly makes a difference to those they care for.
New graduate RN's in the Float Pool participate in the Nurse Residency Program during the first three months of employment. After this, additional orientation to each in-patient unit is provided. A combination of clinical and didactic education along with independent practice continues throughout the first year of ! employment. Only applicants committed to working full time dur! ing the first year are eligible for this program. Float Pool RN's are not in a "first cancel" category. New grads that are most successful in Float Pool are those who are fast learners, enjoy variety and are self motivated.
Float Pool Nurse Residents will start employment in January 2014
This is a Full-Time, 36hr/wk, night shift position .
Minimum Requirements
Current Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Utah or RN licensure obtained by start date.
This position requires verifiable current Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer CPR certification. An original card must be verified prior to start date or the job offer will be withdrawn. For additional information regarding CPR requirements please visit our Job Requirements Page .
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Basic computer skills
Incumbent must be willing to commit to providing at least 12 months of full-time emplo! yment as an RN with the Float Pool, post successful completion of the 1 year orientation program.
Preferred Qualifications
PCMC PCT experience or Pediatric CNA experience
Primary Children's student capstone experience
BSN degree (Intermountain verifies both degree attainment and educational institution accreditation following an offer of employment.)
Students with Nursing GPA > 3.5
