Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics has an immediate opening for a Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program Nurse Coordinator. The Nurse Coordinator will assist with the care of patients with pulmonary hypertension and patients that are being treated with inhaled, subcutaneous or intravenous prostacyclin analogs. Responsibilities
The nurse coordinator will:
- Assist with care of patients with pulmonary vascular disease.
- Monitor the progression of disease (a chronological record of symptoms and functional capacity).
- Monitor the progression of care (a chronological record of medical therapy, beneficial effects, adverse effects).
- Monitor the result of tests pertinent to the care of pulmonary vascular disease.
- Commun! icate regularly with patients who have advanced disease or com! plex regimens of medical care.
- Document interactions in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with 6 minute walk tests.
- Assist with patient and family education.
- Work with insurance companies to explain the need for treatment and obtain authorization for treatment options.
- Assist with the scheduling of all patients with pulmonary vascular disease.
- Maintain a list of patients with a need for high priority scheduling.
- Maintain a database of patients with pulmonary vascular disease.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah; two years general nursing experience. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card or obtain one within one month of hire. Demonstrated teaching, leadership, human relations and effective communication skills required. One year of directly related experience in area of specialty ! is preferred. Some positions may require additional certifications such as ACLS , PALS or NRP within one year of hire.
Preferences
Preference will be given to candidates that have:
- Five or more years of experience in neonatal or pediatric nursing
- Prior experience working with pediatric heart and/or lung disease patients
