Description: St. Mark's Hospital is in need of Dietitian - Food Services, PRN right now, this position will be depute in Utah. The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutrition care of assigned patients, assesses nutritional needs, develops and implements nutrition care plans, monitors response to therapeutic diet/support, and participates in patient and staff education. He/ She follows departmental policies and procedures to provide nutrition care in a timely manner. He/ She also communicates with patients and families, medical staff, nursing staff and other health careprofessionals to assure patient care needs are met. Current on all documentation and charting for patient care.Key Accountabilities / Competencies1.
Accurately calculates patients nutritional needs and able to make appropriate recommendations2. Appropriately documents nutritional interventions3. Communicates patient care interventions to appropriate staff members4. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurence reporting system and uses the system to report potential safety issues.5.
Evaluates patients according to age appropriate care6. Interprets biochemical indicators appropriately with consideration to disease state7. Meets goals as agreed to at beginning of evaluation period.8. Modifies patient meals according to prescribed diet9.
Properly identifies patients requiring nutrition assessment according to policy.10. Provides appropriate nutrition education based on Dx, educational level and need of patient and family11. Provides nutrient/drug interaction teaching according to policy12. Recommends TPN and Tube feeding formulas according to patients nutritional needs.Must be registered or eligible for registration (receive registration within 2 months)and maintain appropriate continuing education (CE) credits within a 5 year period as specified by the commission on dietetic Registration (CDR).
Must be licensed to practice in the State of Utah, providing proof of application for licensure to the state of Utah, Division of Professional and Occupational Licensing when certification/licensure is pending.Current Food Handler permit or ServeSafe certificate.A B.S., B.A. or Masterâs degree from an accredited college or university in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics is required.Prefer a minimum of 1-2 years experience in an acute care facility.However, if a candidate is RD eligible, practical experience in all areas of nutrition care (clinical, food service, research etc.) that is required within the accredited dietetic program completed. Plans for taking the national registration exam must be pending upon time of hire for those who are registration eligible and then active of hire for those who are registration eligible and then active registration and subsequent certification must be obtained.The Clinical Dietitian is required to have skills and knowledge in the following areas of practice: Nutrition Support, OB/GYN, Cardiology, General Medicine, Oncology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Skilled Nursing Facility needs.
